American Friends
The American Friends of the Oxford Symposium on Food and Cookery is a tax-exempt U.S. foundation organized to promote the Symposium and its aims in the United States.
In addition to raising funds for the Symposium itself, the Friends will be organizing gastronomic events--dinners, lectures, travel--to bring together North American food historians and foodlovers.
The American Friends of the Oxford Symposium on Food and Cookery adminsters the Cherwell Food History Studentship, open to (and intended for) applicants of all nationalities and backgrounds as well as to independent researchers as much as full-time graduate students from any number of fields that lead them to pursue the study of food in a serious manner. AFOSFC directors are Raymond Sokolov (president), Barbara K. Wheaton (vice president), Doug Duda (secretary), Cathy Kaufman (treasurer), Bruce Kraig (Chicago) and Charles Perry (Los Angeles).
